Brother of Modern Family star Sofia Vergara deported from US

THE brother of actress Sofia Vergara has been deported from Miami back to his native Colombia due to his extensive criminal record.

The sultry star of Modern Family told Star magazine her younger brother had racked up "many arrests", which resulted in his deportation on May 9.
Julio Vergara, 34, had a rap sheet that included charges for public intoxication, assault and battery, grand theft and drug possession. "An immigration judge determined that he was no longer eligible to remain in the US because his criminal convictions are considered felonies under US immigration law and ordered him removed to his home country of Colombia," an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman said in a statement, according to the Herald.

Sofia Vergara moved to the US with her mother and younger brother and sister in 1998, shortly after her older brother, Rafael, was killed in Colombia during a kidnapping attempt.
