MITCHELL, Neb. — Body of missing 8-year-old girl, Kerra Wilson, found few miles away from her home, authorities said on Friday. The girl’s 32-year-old stepfather, Salvador Carlos Lopez, has reportedly been arrested for sexually abusing and murdering Kerra Wilson.

Kerra Wilson, 8, Found Dead After Reported Missing on Wednesday
The police found the body of Kerra Wilson Thursday evening in Sioux County that is several miles north of her home in Mitchell. It was uncertainly declared by the clothing Kerra has been wearing. Because it was dark and the body was found in rugged terrain, it couldn't be retrieved that night.

Kerra Wilson was reported missing about 3 p.m. Wednesday by her grandmother after school officials had told the family that Kerra had not attended the school.

Kerra’s stepfather Lopez had told investigators that he left Kerra at Mitchell Elementary School at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. But authorities found no video record of her arrival, and no one saw him drop her off.

Kirk Kuxhausen, principal of Mitchell Elementary School, told that Kerra was not seen in any of the security camera footage shot in the school or on the playground on Wednesday.

The certain cause of Kerra’s death will be revealed after post-mortem, authorities said.

Lopez, having no criminal records, is currently at the Scotts Bluff county jail, and will be presented in Sioux County court later on Friday.
