"Horrific" Road Accident on Motorway in South-west England -- At Least 7 Dead, More than 50 Injured: UK Police

LONDON (Nov. 05) – At least seven reported killed and more than 50 injured as a result of massive pile up of vehicles on a major motorway near Taunton in Somerset, south-west England around 2 am. The death toll is expected to rise further, UK police sources revealed later on the day.

The Worst Road Accident in UK Since 1991 Involved 34 Vehicles
Undoubtedly, it was one of the worst road accidents in Britain that involved 34 vehicles in which speedy cars and other automobiles smashing into each other, sparking gigantic balls of fire.

Anthony Bangham, Assistant Chief Constable of the Avon and Somerset Police, told that the incident was very, very testing as emergency responding teams faced exactly one huge fireball.

"Most vehicles were well alight and most continued to burn for a considerable time. This made it very difficult to search the vehicles. Some of them have been burned to the ground," Bangham said further.

Officials believe that the disaster has been the worst road crash involving multiple vehicles since 1991. Vehicles on the road were seen smacking into each other at high speed on the M5 motorway near Taunton in Somerset while the poor weather conditions made it even disastrous. Therefore, officials remind it as "horrific".

The motorway has been shut down in both directions while rescue and restoration operations are being carries on.

Thursday, Nov. 03: Judge Jeremy Cooke Sentenced Varying Jail Terms for Pakistani Cricketers Involved in Spot-fixing

Salman Butt            Muhammad Aif         Muhammad Amir

LONDON (Nov 03) – Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt and two of his teammates, pacers Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir, were today sentenced jail terms from 6 months to 30 months after being found guilty of spot-fixing, making them the first cricketers ever to be imprisoned for corruption.

Butt was sentenced to two and a half years, Asif was handed a one-year term, while the 19-year-old Amir was sentenced to six months of prison time by the Southwark Crown Court here.

Three of Pakistani cricketers, involved in the most serious sports’ corruption scandal in more than a decade, will know their fate today (Thursday, Nov. 03) as the court finished hearing yesterday.

Former Pakistani test captain Salman Butt and fast bowlers Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir were found guilty of spot fixing during a test match against England in 2010. Aisf and Amir bowled deliberate no-balls during the match on the stipulated timings set by so-called sports’ agent Mazhar Majeed, who pleaded guilty to the charges before the trial along with Muhammad Amir.
Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif have continuously been denying the allegations of spot-fixing, but both were found guilty on Tuesday of conspiracy to cheat and conspiracy to accept corrupt payments. Now they are facing possible 7-year jail term.
On Wednesday, Judge Jeremy Cooke spent the day in court listening the final explanatory statements from the lawyers of all three cricketers on behalf of players. Cooke will consider the case overnight before delivering his final verdict about sentences at London's Southwark Crown Court at 10 a.m. local time Thursday.

KENT (August 23) - The world is full of mysteries and weird incidents and every now and then we hear something very strange and outlandish.

Kent Mystery Man Suffering From Amnesia Searching for His own Identity

What would be your feeling if you suddenly woke up and found yourself on a beach without remembering your name and whereabouts..?? It sounds really bizarre but it happened to mystery man in Kent, England.

The mystery man, as I would call him, speaks with an English accent and looks in his late 50s or early 60s entered at Victoria Hospital in Deal, Kent, with problems of head aches and amnesia.

Apparently and as he claims; he doesn’t have any idea about his own identity, anything about his family or any other personal details which can help trace his whereabouts.

The mystery man told police that he woke up on the beach at Deal on August 17 and reached the hospital after asking about the direction from other people. According to police sources; he neither has any apparent injuries nor he looks like slept rough for any length of time.

Police have gone through missing persons’ case files but unable to trace any matching with the mystery man.

The man has a good healthy physique and was wearing black Wrangler jeans, a white T-shirt and patterned sweatshirt when he reached at hospital.

England will resume their first innings on 84/0, with Andrew Strauss in killing form batting on 52 and Alastair Cook batting on 27, on day two of the third test of 4-test nPower series.

Earlier on the first day; England won the toss first time in the series and decided to invite visitors to bat on which proved to be a more than good decision as India lost their top and middle order for just Nelson (111) on the board. MS Dhoni (77) and Praveen Kumar (26) shared a good stand before England wrapped up the tail after tea.

India only managed 24 runs after tea with England returning to the discipline they had shown in the morning session to dismiss Dhoni and Ishant Sharma in quick succession with a total of 224 on the scoreboard.

Indian Chances to Pull Back in Second Test - - Absence of Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir Can Hurt India

India v England (2nd Test) Live Today
NOTTINGHAM - - It was a historical 2000th test match played between India and England at Lord’s Cricket Ground and concluded on July 25th with a humiliating 196-run defeat to India. The big defeat by the hands of England has certainly dented the reputation of India, which is ranked number one in test ranking followed by South Africa and England respectively.

India captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni confirmed that premier fast bowler Zaheer Khan who had injured his hamstring in the Lord's Test, will not participate in the second match of the series against England starting in Nottingham on Friday.

S Sreesanth who did not take part in the historic first Test at the home of cricket is likely to be the replacement for the injured Zaheer.

Now the question arises; will India bounce back to level the series in the second test scheduled to be started on Friday (July 29) at Nottingham?

Indian prospects to bounce back look quite miserable in the absence of ace fast bowler Zaheer Khan and star batsman Gautam Gambhir due to injuries. On the other hand the psychological impact of big crash in first test is not very conducive for India to fight back strongly in the second test match against very formidable and threatening looking English cricket team.

India’s house on the other hand is not in order. Several top players are not in the best of their health and two important players are all but out of the team for the second test match that is commencing today at Nottingham.
