On Kartik Purnima - Express Train Crushed Four Women to Death in India

LUCKNOW, India (Nov. 10) – An express train crushed four women to death today (Thursday, Nov. 10) morning while two other were injured severely in the same accident.

Reportedly, the victim women were belonged to Delhi and were returning after participating in a ritual to observe Kartik Purnima - thousands of people take a dip in the Ganges and other rivers to worship Lord Shiva.

The ladies were knocked down by Faizabad-Delhi Express while crossing the tracks near the Garhmukteshwar railway station in Panchsheel Nagar district (Uttar Pradesh). Four of them, including three sisters and one of their cousins, were killed on the spot while two are being treated at a hospital where their condition is stated to be serious.

Names of the victims are disclosed as Sonia (15), Neelam (22) and Suman (28) died along with their relative Gunjan (24).

Passenger Bus-Fuel Tanker Collision in Tamil Nadu, India -- At Least 7 Killed, 21 Injured

CHITHODU (Tamil Nadu), India – At least seven reported killed and 21 injured in a fatal road accident last night in Erode district, Tamil Nadu.



According to details; a passenger bus collided with a fuel tanker from backside at Chithode, about 15 km from Chitode, on NH-47, resulting in an immediate fire which covered both vehicles within a wink of an eye.

According to police sources; the bus was heading towards Bangalore from Coimbatore and the fuel tank was carrying aviation fuel and was on its way to the Coimbatore airport.

Five out of seven killed were burnt to death on the spot while two were later died in hospital. Twenty one injured passengers were shifted to different nearby hospitals at Bhavani, Erode and Coimbatore. Two of the injured are still in serious condition, hospital sources revealed.

Over-speeding is the apparent cause of the accident; while restlessness of driver is also believed to be a major factor. The driver and conductor of the bus also killed in this accident.

The World of 7 Billion -- World's Population to Touch 7 Billion by the End of October


The human population of the planet earth has grown up by whopping one billion within just 12 years.

According to the statistics by the United Nations, the world population will reach 7 billion by the end of the month and it took only 144 months to jump from 6 billion to 7 billion. China is on the top with 1.33 billion followed by India and United States with 1.17 billion and 306.8 million. See the graphical presentation below:

Jeffrey D. Sachs, director of the Earth Institute, expressed his concern for the gigantic population climb:

"This is a crowded planet. This is trouble, frankly..."

Certainly it's not an achievement to be cheered by any one who knows that with such speedy population growth, the planet earth is heading seriously close to draining both space and resources.

India Mourns the Death of Legendary Ghazal Singer Jagjit Singh

MUMBAI, India (Oct. 10) - Famous Indian singer Jagjit Singh has passed away today (Monday, Oct. 10) morning at Lilavati hospital in Mumbai at the age of 70. Popularly known as the "Ghazal King", Singh sang in a number of languages.

Jagjit Singh, who was famed for his semi-classical Ghazal songs, suffered from a stroke in September and had been in a coma in hospital ever since. 

India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday expressed his condolence on the death of noted ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, saying he would be remembered for his "golden voice".

Noting that he is among Jagjit's admirers, the Prime Minister said he shared the sorrow of his fans.

He is survived by his wife, Chitra Singh, who herself is also a leading ghazal singer. They had commercial success with songs recorded together in the 1970s and 1980s.

MUMBAI, India (Oct. 8) – As the release of Bollywood’s superhero flick “Ra.One” is coming closer; it is managing to capture more attractions associated with it.

According to a latest media report; the legendary Amitabh Bachan (aka Big B) has been engaged by Shahrukh Khan for a voiceover to introduce a game based on the Ra.One. The latest engagement by Bollywood’s megastar Big B followed Rajinikanth guest act in mega-budget movie featuring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Big B, famous for his distinctive vocal tone, arrived on Thursday morning to do a voiceover for the movie. He left Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty surprised by his skill and dexterity.

MUMBAI, India – Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's earlier efforts to quit smoking couldn’t materialize positively; but now King Khan again shows his intentions to say good bye to cigarettes and smoking after the release of his superhero flick 'Ra.One'.

Fight Against Corruption -- Indian Activist Anna Hazare Set to Visit Pakistan

Indian activist Anna Hazare, who was acclaimed for his fight against corruption in his country, has shown his consent to visit Pakistan following an invitation from Nasir Aslam Zahid, the former judge of the Pakistan Supreme Court, and Karamat Ali the executive director of PILER.

Zahid and Ali have forced Anna to make a visit to Pakistan aiming to have some guidelines for the activists of Pakistan struggling to end corruption in their country.
Furthermore, the duo wants Anna Hazare to work on the peace mission between both neighbouring countries which is a long-term process and certainly the need of the hour.
Both Ali and Zahid went straight away to Ralegan Siddhi to meet and invite Anna Hazare, accompanying with Mr Sanjay Nahar, the founder President of Sarhad – a Pune-based NGO which runs the institute for the children’s from Jammu and Kashmir. Anna, as a result, intended to visit Pakistan subject to health and other conditions.

In Tarapur, India .... Toxic gas leakage killed 4, while 8 were hospitalized

TARAPUR, India (Sept. 20) - At least four people reported killed due to a toxic gas leakage at a chemical factory near the Tarapur atomic power station in Maharashtra, India.

Reportedly, Eight other people were shifted to hospital in serious condition after inhaling the hydrogen sulphide gas.

The incident occurred at 8 pm today. The leakage has now been controlled, sources at factory told media.

Fire brigade officials are at the site, however, the cause of the leakage is still a mystery.

The incident occurred in the Sequent Scientific firm located in Tarapur MIDC area, on the outskirts of Mumbai.

India-Nepal Earthquake Updates: Nine dead and hundreds injured, death toll expected to rise

NEW DELHI, India -- Earthquake UPDATES: Strong earthquake of 6.8-magnitude that rocked northeast India and Nepal earlier today evening has left at least nine dead on the both sides of the border and injured an unspecified numbers in the areas on India-Nepal border.

Strong Earthquake on India-Nepal Border Killed at Least Nine, Dozens Injured

The strong earthquake triggered at least two aftershocks of 6.1 and 5.3 magnitudes, according to Indian seismology department.

According to details; official sources of Indian state Sikkim confirmed the death of four people while large numbers of people are injured and many are still trapped in damaged buildings. Rescue and emergency operations are underway on the both sides of the border.

Furthermore, five deaths are confirmed from the other side of the border where the overall situation is even more disastrous than Indian areas affected by quake.

It is highly expected that the death toll will rise further as the full extent of damage was not immediately known because the region is sparingly populated with many living in distant areas which were cut off by mudslides triggered by the strong earthquake.

NEW DELHI, India (Sept. 18) – Breaking News: Northeast India jolted by a strong earthquake on Sunday afternoon. The earthquake was so strong that it was felt as far as Delhi in North India.

US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the magnitude of the quake as 6.8 with the epicentre of the quake located at a depth of 10 kilometre on the Sikkim-Nepal border.
The earthquake hit Sikkim at about 6:11 pm (IST) and it was felt for quite sometime. Placid quake shocks were also felt across West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. The tremors lasted for several seconds.
No immediate reports of damages or loss of lives are available.

Breaking News!! Head On Train Clash Killed At Least 15 in Chennai (Tamil Nadu, India), Dozens Reported Injured



CHENNAI, India (Sept. 13) – Breaking news: At least 15 killed and dozens are reported injured in an accident when two trains head on clash in the state of Tamil Nadu.

According to initial reports available; a passenger train from Chennai smashed into a stationary train near Sitheri railway station close to Arakkonam, about 75 km from here, late on Tuesday night.

TV reports on different news channels suggest that at leat three bogies have derailed as an impact of collision and several passengers are still stuck inside the bogies.

Responding promptly National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has dispatched two rescue teams to the accident site.

Breaking News!!! Muhammad Azharuddin's 19-year-old Son Ayazzuddin Died in Road Accident

HYDERABAD, India (Sept. 11) – Star batsman and former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin's son died in a motorbike accident in Hyderabad today (Sunday, Sept. 11) morning about 6:30 am.

According to details; the 19-year-old Ayazzuddin was on his power motorbike and having a race with his friend, named as Adnan, near the Hyderabad International airport when his motorbike gone out of control and slipped on the road. Ayyazzuddin got fatal head injuries despite of wearing helmet at the time of accident. 

Ayazzuddin was shifted to the Apollo hospital for treatment but he surrendered to his severe head injuries. Few unconfirmed reports suggest that he was accompanying with his cousin Afzal, who is in critical condition right now.

Pakistan Through to Final After a Drawn Match Against India -- Will India make it ... conditions apply?

ORDOS, China (Sept. 09) - Pakistan sailed into the final of First Men’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2011 after securing a draw with arch-rival India on Friday here at Ordos, China.

Even the first half of the match ended goalless but arch-rivals exhibited forceful show off with the very first moment of the match which was later drawn at 2-2.

NEW DELHI, India (Sept. 07) – Breaking News: New Delhi, rocked by a strong earthquake of 6.6 magnitude on Wednesday night.

The terror strike outside Delhi High Court, which left at least 12 dead and more than 60 injured, was strongly condemned by President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
