Gymnastics

Here we are back at Gymnastics class

Holly is practicing on her own before class begins

Teacher Rory helps her with a sommersalt

Next they practiced walking along the white line

Bouncing is always really fun to do

She was really good about staying on the line

Jumping off the ledge

Balancing around the circle

She was having lots of fun exploring the gym

The balance beam has been something she is getting better and better at

Though she doesn't always put one foot in front of the next

Later all the kids gathered together for stretching time

This was there table stretch

Then they began there obstacle course

Which included the beam

Then all of the kids sat on the bouncer waiting for it to blow up

Its really neat for them to hang on as it inflates

Then they jumpy jump. It is always a fun classAfter Sara and Holly always have a fun time playing with the trains in the office.

Balance and Attention

Here is Holly on the Balance Beam

She can almost walk across the whole thing without falling

Here she is stretching during "circle time"

Its amazing to watch her for nearly fifteen minutes following along with the class

Touching toes, stretching left and right

Butterflies. She doesn't do all the moves quite correctly

But she does her best to copy what the teacher does and she follows along

After stretching they usually have an obstacle course

Look at Holly lining up with the other kids waiting her turn

She even listens when the teacher explains what the obstacle course is and then she runs through it herself

This is the point where it all falls apart. She runs the course several times but she always looses interest before they are ready to move on. Still we have about 35 minutes of a perfect class and another 15 of redirection. it is wonderful.

Gymnastics Montage

We signed up for Summer Gymnastics classThe class is offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoonsBut it is not parent participation, so us mommies sit on the sidelines and watchIt makes it hard to get very good pictures of the kids jumping and running and tumblingSo these are from three different classes, you can see Holly's variety of outfits and stage set-upsI have been so impressed with her ability to follow along during the stretch and activity circleand she completely follows along for the obstacle course routine trying each section with vigor. Gymnastics has been a nice addition to our summer.
