Allied Hospital, Faisalabad -- The 16-year-old Azeem Hanging Between Life and Death After Police Set Him on Fire



FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Oct. 8) – A teenage boy was allegedly burnt alive today (Saturday) by police after beating him brutally in Faisalabad. 



Teenage Azeem Shifted to Allied Hospital after Sustaining Fatal Burn Injuries

According to details; the 16-year-old Azeem was held by police for alleged robbery charges and tortured brutally in Pul Dingru police station. Later on he was set on fire by the police. The boy was taken to Allied Hospital in with critical burn injuries.

Police claimed that Azeem set himself on fire while the relatives of the victim blamed police for false robbery charges, torturing and burning the boy. They held a protest and demanded action against the policemen involved in this inhumane incident.
 
Speaking to media on phone, Punjab’s Law Minister Rana Sanaullah vowed an action would be taken against the suspected policemen; while according to updates the CPO Faisalabad had suspended the in-charge of police station.

PTI Rally in Faisalabad -- Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif cannot be trusted to check on each other: Imran Khan



FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Oct. 07) – Asif Ali Zaradari and Nawaz Sharif are not meant to keep check on one another because both of them have kept their black money outside Pakistan, said Imran Khan, the cricketer-turned-politician and chief of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI).

Khan, addressing a rally in Faisalabad, further said if PTI comes in power then it would implement a law under which all those will be banned who don’t declare their assets as corrupt politicians could not be expected to keep a check on one another since they would strike a deal to get out.

He criticised the government policies of increasing tax burden on poor making them even poorer. Pakistan is presented as beggar in the world despite of vast natural resources it has, just because of corrupt politicians. The only solution to take Pakistan to the roads of prosperity is ‘to get rid of corrupt politicians, he said.    

He said that the only reasons that both Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari had the most of their wealth saved in foreign assets was that they wanted to evade taxes and ferry off their ill-gotten wealth.

The first step PTI would take once assumes the power, Khan said, would be to introduce a law where in those whose assets are in foreign countries and undisclosed would not be allowed to take part in local politics.

Sialkot Stallions: The New National T20 Champions

KARACHI, Pakistan (Oct. 02) – Final of the Faysal Bank Twenty20 (FBT20) cup was just finished and a real thriller ended with the victory of Sialkot Stallions as they beat defending champions Rawalpindi Rams with 10 runs today here on National Stadium, Karachi. Rawalpindi Rams fell 11 runs short of the target of 181 set by Sialkot Stallions.





Rawalpindi Rams openers provided a flying start; especially Awais Zia played a gem innings. He hit 5 boundaries in first over and smashed two sixes in the second over in his little cameo of 32 off 13 balls. He was trapped by Raza Hasan in third over of Rams’ innings which was a proof of an effective and timely strategy of Stallions’ skipper Shoaib Malik.

The other opener naved latif also played a good knock of 67 off 47; but couldn’t finish the match and lost his wicket to Naved Arif, who was smashed by Awais Zia in first over for five 4s. Umar Amin, the most consistent of the Rams’ batsmen in this tournament, couldn’t last long and fell to veteran Abdur Rehman after contributing just 11 off 10 balls.

Umar Amin Showed His Class to Lead Rawalpindi Rams into Final Four of Faysal bank T20 Cup



KARACHI, Pakistan (Sept. 30) - Defending T20 champions Rawalpindi Rams handed a shocking defeat to match favourites Faisalabad Wolves by 7 runs in a nail biting Group B match of Faysal Bank T20 Cup, here on National Stadium Karachi.

Rawalpindi Rams have now joined Lahore Eagles and Sialkot Stallions for the semi-finals of the tournament. The last semi-finalist will be the winner of the last match of today being played right now between Peshawar Panthers and hosts Karachi Dolphins. According to latest reports from field; Panthers have set a challenging total of 178 for the Afridi’s men.

Batting first Rawalpindi Rams set a target of 166 to win, while Faisalabad Wolves were restricted to 158-8 in 20 overs. They needed 25 to win in the final over and pace bowler Muhammad Talha smashed Muhammad Ramiz for one six and two boundaries and took a couple but was caught on the final delivery needing eight to win.

Faisalabad Wolves’ start was disastrous as both their openers fell for duck and soon they were reeling at 39 for five. Imran Khalid top-scored with 48 off 35 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six while Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq made a fearless 43 off 36 balls smashing three boundaries and one six but that didn’t proved sufficient to take Wolves past the target set by Rams.

Kallar Kahar School Bus Tragedy -- Initial Investigation Report Reveals Shocking Facts



FAISALABAD, Pakistan – Motorway police has released the principal of Millat Grammar School after initial investigation; while a 3-member team has been established for an independent probe into the school bus tragedy that killed 37, including 31 students

The investigation team will work under the supervision of Faisalabad Commissioner Syed Tahir Hussain.

Eye-opening revelations were made after initial investigations by Motorway police, enlisted below:

  1. At the time of accident the bus was being driven by conductor, rather than the actual driver, who had no driving license,
  2. NOC of bus was taken to carry passengers of a marriage ceremony,
  3. Bus travelled with a fake fitness certificate,
  4. The route permit of the bus was also expired,
  5. The bus was more than 37 years old i.e. 1974 model,
  6. School administration hired bus for just Rs. 12,000 and opted a poor-conditioned bus just to save money.
The complete investigation report will reveal that how many department, government institutions and people are actually responsible for the disastrous road accident.

In Faisalabad ... Husband Tortured His Wife, Shaved Her Head and Locked Him for Many Days



FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Sept. 28) – A woman was physically abused by her husband, who not only shaved her head but also locked her in a room, in a village located in suburbs of Faisalabad.

According to details; Muhammad Hussain, resident of Chak No24-JB Abadi Lahori, used to torture her wife Shazia more than often on regular basis. Shazia tried to inform her parents about her husband’s inhumane attitude asking her neighbours to help her out.

Somebody informed Muhammad Hussain that his wife is trying to escape with the help of her parents. He became angry nd started beating Shazia in the presence of other people of the area. He also shaved her head and locked her in a room.

When Shazia’s father, Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, came to rescue his daughter; Muhammad Hussian also locked him in the room, reportedly not less than for two days until police was informed. Muhammad Hussain later on escaped the scene before police can take action against him. The neighbours released Shazia and her father from the locked room.

The case has been registered in Sahianwala Police Station against Muhammad Hussain and police has started searching for the culprit.

UPDATES: Kallar Kahar School Bus Tragedy - Death Toll Reaches 37
According to latest updates; the death toll has reached to 37 - including 30 students, four teachers, a vice principal of the school and driver, conductor of the bus – while 65 sustained severe injuries and mostly are being treated in DHQ Hospital, Chakwal and Fauji Foundation Hospital Kallar Kahar. Few critically injured have already been shifted to Rawalpindi hospitals and Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.

Meanwhile, few dead bodies have already transported to Faisalabad where all schools and government offices have announced a day of mourning. 

Millat Grammar School is a private school located in Millat Town, some 20 kilometres from Faisalabad city. Most students who attended the school belong to rural areas. Officials at the school said the bus had departed from Faisalabad at 6:00 am on Monday (Sept. 26). The students were reportedly from class six to class ten.

Breaking!! Millat Grammar School (Faisalabad) Bus Overturned Near Kalar Kahar -- At Least 28 Dead, More Than 40 Injured



FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Sept. 26) – Breaking News: At least 28 people were killed, including 20 students, at the time of writing these lines, in a fatal road accident of a school bus, according to private TV channels.

According to available details; school bus (No. FF 4186) of Millat Grammar School (Faisalabad), carrying almost 110 students, was returning from a picnic trip which overturned after getting out of control on Motorway 25 Km away from Kalar Kahar salt range.

The bus after skidding on Motorway fell into a ditch killing at least 28 children while more than 40 children got injured and shifted to DHQ hospital Chakwal. Rescue operation is already underway and injured are being pulled out after cutting the body of the bus. 

According to initial revelation by hospital sources four children are critically injured and being treated in ICU. It is feared that the death toll may rise.

It is believed that the accident took place due to failure of brakes.

Large Scale Search Operation in Faisalabad as Police SHO Rana Mazhar's Family Kidnapped

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Thursday, Sept. 22) – In an apparently revenge action the family of an SHO (Station Head Officer) has been abducted Thursday afternoon by unknown gunmen in Faisalabad.

Reportedly; three members of SHO Rana Mazhar’s family including wife, daughter and brother were kidnapped from his home in Ayub Colony (Jhang Road) by few unidentified persons in police uniforms and taken them to an unknown place.

According to police sources; one of the kidnappers has been identified later on as Shahzad (aka Shadu) who has kidnapped SHO’s family to take the revenge because SHO Rana Mazhar, appointed at Satyana Police Station, reportedly filed a case against Shahzad’s wife and mother-in-law and arrested them the other day.

A mass search operation has already been launched after Rao Tahir, CPO Faisalabad, formed two teams for recovery of the SHO’s family under the supervision of SP CIA and SP Lailpur Town.



Faisalabad: Theft Plan of 11-KV Electric Wires Avoided by the Interruption of FESCO and Police

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Sept. 22) – A plan to steal 11-KV overhead line was reportedly averted, rather fortunately, when police interrupted in time on the complaint of FESCO (Faisalabad Electric Supply Company) official who was informed by residents of the area after a total blackout.

According to details; few unidentified culprits removed two spans of 11-KV wires from the area of Bandala Sub-Division with the help of a cutter at Chak 40-RB Chatti, a suburban area of Faisalabad. The cutting of wires costs at least Rs 200,000 to FESCO due to damages of different electric accessories. 

The thieves also removed about 635-meter long nine spans of 11-KV wires near Chak 95-RB Dosanja, damaging different electric accessories as a result, costing very high to FESCO. 

Meanwhile, residents of the area forced to lodge a complaint to FESCO staff due to long power outage. FESCO staff in supervision of SDO Nadeem Akbar responded promptly to reach the site and also informed the police. As soon as police and FESCo staff reached at the site the thieves escaped from the scene leaving the removed wire.

A case has been filed in Balochani Police Station against the unknown culprits.



In Mureedwala, Faisalabad .... So-called magician arrested for burning Holy Quran

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Sept. 22) – The police has reportedly detained a so-called magician, in Mureedwala – suburbs of Faisalabad,  on account of burning Holy Qura’an and a case has been registered against him under Pakistan Penal Code – Section 295-B.

According to details available; the 45-year-old Akram, known as ‘magic master’ in his vicinity, went to graveyard on Tuesday with one of his client and started his ‘magical spell’ uttering unfamiliar words and sentences over a script of the Holy Qura’an.

At the end of his so-called magical spells he allegedly sets Holy Qura’an on fire, resulting his clients gone violent and started beating him. In the mean time more people and passers-by gathered there and also pounded accusing him insulting the Holy Book. 

Someone from the crowd also called up the police who held the culprit and registered a case against him on the complaint of Muhammad Sarfraz, a resident of the area. Later on, Akram has been presented before the judicial magistrate of the area who ordered a judicial remand of 14 days and adjourned hearing for two weeks.

At Least Six People Sustained Burn Injuries in Faisalabad Due to Dangerous Chemical Spray

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (Sept. 21) – According to private TV channels reports; at least six persons have sustained serious burn injuries today evening due to a dangerous chemical sprayed on them while they were travelling by a public transport van.

According to details; few unidentified persons on a car chased a van on Narwala Road area of Faisalabad and sprayed dangerous chemical on the passengers of the van which caused serious burn injuries to six passengers of the van. The car riders escaped the scene after spraying the chemical.

The entire injured persons were shifted to Allied hospitals immediately for necessary medical attention while police has registered a case against unknown attackers. 

The injured persons have not nominated any person to police for this act saying that they had no enmity and had no information whatsoever about the culprits.

Breaking News!! Shia Pilgrims' Bus Attacked in Mustung (Quetta) Killed 26, Several Wounded

QUETTA, Pakistan (Sept. 20) – A bus carrying sixty passengers was attacked by unidentified gunmen on Mustung road near Quetta left at least 26 dead and several other injured.

According to details; the bus was on its way from Quetta to Taftan (Iran) carrying Shia pilgrims and attacked by gunmen from both sides when it reached near Mastung town around 50 km from the provincial capital of Quetta.

The gunfire was so sudden that passengers couldn’t do anything to save from bullets coming from both sides of the bus. Almost 20 pilgrims were reported dead at the spot while six more died on their way to hospitals. 

Rescue and emergency team couldn’t reach the site immediately; therefore, the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals by the locals and surviving pilgrims.

The responsibility of the attack hasn’t been claimed by any group yet.

Rana Arif Tauseef is a well-known industrialist and brother of Rana Zahid Tauseef, former District Nazim Faisalabad and Rana Asif Tauseef, Minister of State for Privatization, and heads a group of most modern textile mills.

This is second term for Rana Arif Tauseef as Chairman of PTEA while in the past he has served the Association in various other capacities. His first term as Chairman of the Association was in the year 2005-06. He is also serving on boards of many charitable, health and educational institutions, contributing to society.

Presently textile industry is deep in trouble due to many factors mainly high-utility cost, trade deficit, additional levies as well as law and order situation emerging out of the war against terror and other barrier directly affecting the cost of running-business, which is hampered exports of the country.




Dengue Outbreak in Punjab -- Section 144 Imposed as Recommended by Sri Lankan Health Experts

LAHORE, Pakistan (Sept. 16) – In efforts to control the spreading menace of dengue virus Punjab government is taking decisive steps in coordination with the Sri Lankan medical team, called by Punjab government, having special expertise to fight against dengue virus.

As per the recommendation by the Sri Lankan experts’ team; the Punjab government has forced section 144 in Lahore to control the dengue virus spreading through a specific breed of mosquitoes.

Under imposition of section 144; car washing in streets, on roads and at public places of Lahore will be illegal, said DCO (District Coordination Officer) Lahore Ahad Khan Cheema.

The DCO said further that violations under section 144 will be resulted in a legal action against those who drop water outside their houses, shops or at any open place, adding that to comply with the law people must have to cover the water tanks of their houses.

Watch Video: Woman Beat a Man on Susan Road, Madina Town (Faisalabad) For Teasing Her on Phone

FAISALABAD, Pakistan – A woman beat a man in Faisalabad on public place among dozens other watching the drama on a very busy and commercial area today (Friday, Sept. 16) afternoon.

 According to details the man used to tease the woman on cell phone calling her again and again. She told him many times not to do as it can disturb her personal life; but the man didn’t bother at all and keep calling and teasing her.

At last the woman decided to take the decisive action and she invited him to meet her. As soon as the man came on Susan Road (Madina Town); the Burqa clad woman started to beat him. She caught him from collar of his shirt and slapped him more than twice.

Many people and passers-by gathered there but no one tried to stop the woman as she was also telling how the man made her life a hell. 

This incident must be a lesson for those who involve in such kind of unethical acts.

Heavy Rains in Faisalabad and Suburbs -- Roof Collapse Killed Two Women at Tibbah Colony, Sargodha Road

FAISALABAD, Pakistan – It has been raining continuously in Faisalabad since two days which caused many accidents in the city and suburban areas.

Reportedly, roof of a house collapsed due continuous downpour in Sargodha Road area killing two women and injuring two other persons on Friday afternoon.  

Mukhtar Ahmed and his wife Nasreen, son Adil and another woman Nasrana were present in their home situated in Tibbah colony on Sargodha road when roof of their house bowed due to continuous rainfall, rescue 1122 sources told.

Both the women died on the site while Mukhtar and Adil got minor injuries and were discharged after first aid by rescue officials.

In Sindh, Pakistan ... More than 6 million flood victims vulnerable to flood-related diseases

Karachi, Pakistan - Pakistan is suffering from severe floods second time in less than one year and the latest one is even disastrous in terms of monetary damages and loss of lives. The recent floods have affected more than 4.5 million acres of land and almost 60,000 cattle had either died or disappeared. In addition more than 400,000 homes have been completely destroyed.



More than 6 million flood victims vulnerable to flood-related diseases
According to an estimate; more than six million people are affected by the recent floods in province of Sindh and most of them had to leave their homes to save their lives. Most of them are now living in temporary shelters without basic resources of life like drinking water, food and medicines.

The recent reports from the flood-hit areas suggest that now flood-caused diseases are spreading rapidly among the victims doubling the problems of them. More than 33 per cent of flood victims (more than 2 million) are suffering already from flood-related diseases while more than 7,000 people have been bitten by snake bites.

More than 400,000 homes have been completely destroyed due to recent floods in Sindh

As in every kind of emergency, children are being affected most due to the flood-related diseases. The UN children's agency spokesperson in Pakistan, Dan Rohrman, said it was a serious situation "in particular for children who are always the most vulnerable in emergency situations".

Arshad Bhatti, spokesperson of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), told that the situation is certainly severe and if international community doesn’t provide an immediate support it will get worse to the worst as more flood victims will be suffering from flood-related diseases.
